With over 50 years experience I decided to teach young people to do something with their lives rather than sitting in front of a TV playing games.
My classes in civil war and scale model making help the young person get more experience in math, exercise their imagination, art, eye-hand coordination, planning, social skills, taking instructions and turning it into something with there own hands.
There is a certain satisfaction about your life when you can start a project and carry it through to display the finial project in a competition setting. This is what I would like to see for our young folks.

There is no other class you can find quite like Mr. Stuard's model building class. I have had three of my children in this excellent class. Each child is a different kind of learner and each not only learned a lot, but enjoyed the work and Mr. Stuard tremendously. The class involves spatial learning, math, art and creativity as well as that inexplicable "something" that every parent wants for their child - individual growth. The professional knowledge that Mr. Stuard brings to the class after years of experience is only surpassed by the heart he brings to his teaching. The relationship that my children have form with this wonderful mentor are priceless.

My 13 year old Daughter loves these classes! The modeling class has really taught her how to build models correctly. she has always had an interest in this area, but hated reading instructions. In this class most instruction is verbal, which is how she learns best.
The Civil War class has been very educational. she has become interested in researching and finding definitions on-line (class assignments), and has developed an interest in Civil War history. she loves the planning of her diorama of the battle that she is studying. She has even asked if we can ever visit the location of the Civil War battles. This is from a child that doesn't get enthusiastic about much!

I just got home from picking my son up from your model building and Civil War classes. I have to tell you that each time I see you with my son along with your whole class I am completely amazed. The love that you have for what you are teaching completely shines through and envelops each and every student. I have never seen Mathew so completely engrossed in learning and creating. He comes home so happy from your classes and has all kinds of interesting things to tell me. and then he shows me the things that he has accomplished with his model house and Civil War project and he is so proud. You bring out the best in each of these children by showing compassion, yet having total command of your class; by sharing your knowledge and teaching them, but allowing them to be their own individual and creative selves; by expecting the very best out of each one of them and making them believe that they can accomplish the best, yet totally accepting what each individual can give and making each one of them feel special; and especially by the positive way that you live according to your faith. You not only teach them what the classes are about, but you also teach them life's lessons. Mr. Stuard, we truly believe that you and your classes have added so much to our son's life, He is learning so much and is enjoying every second of it. I would not hesitate to highly recommend any of your classes. To watch these children learn to create these wonderful models is such a joy. Thank You form the bottom of our hearts for bring what I would consider one of the very best teachers and mentors that our son will ever have!
